Baias & Gvancas Wine
Baias & Gvancas Wine is a small family winery in the village of Obcha. This family brings new life and energy to the winemaking scene. Winemakers made wine from endemic grape varieties growing in Western Georgia. They produce wine in Churi. This jug is similar to the Qvevri, but has a different technology. In Churi, 30% of the pulp is laid, and in Qvevri, 100%.The color of the wine from Churi is lighter, lemon-colored, and the taste has citrus notes and light mineralization. The wine from Qvevri, made according to the Kakheti technology, has an amber color, intense tannins and fruit flavors. The Baias family has been producing wine for more than three generations. And they are members Of the Association of natural wines. Baias produces natural organic amber-colored wine.
Three generations of the Baia family grow grapes and introduce the world to their wine. Winemaking has always been the tradition and pride of generations of Baia. Baia herself is a young woman. Also, you know, Baias sister produces wine. Her name is Gvantsa and she is a good specialist. Gvantsa has been producing red wine since 2015. She uses grape varieties such as Aladasturi and Otskhanuri Sapere. The Family has a younger brother Giorgi. Similarly, Giorgi followed in his sister’s footsteps and is studying enology at the same university. Baia produces all the wine only from its grapes grown in the vineyards in Obcha. The wine is then aged and stored in its own wine cellar.
Obcha village has a special microclimate, thanks to which such a fine wine is obtained. Obcha is located in the East at an altitude of 324 meters above sea level. The fresh air becomes cool and humid at night that contributes to proper maturation. The soil is rich in limestone, which is a good drainage system for the roots. In conclusion, the climate is balanced for growing grapes
